Our subject leaders have developed thorough long-term plans which detail why all aspects of our curriculum were selected and sequenced in that way.  They have ensured that knowledge and skills are progressed throughout the curriculum and that there are plenty of opportunities to revisit and embed them as the children progress through the school.

Our curriculum is delivered in discrete subjects. However, within our medium-term plans, subject leaders and teachers have identified cross-curricular links to ensure that children can understand that knowledge and skills can apply to a variety of subjects to deepen their understanding and learning.

We know that cultural capital is crucial for helping us to narrow the gap for some of our most disadvantaged families. In order to do this, we ensure that during their time with us, our curriculum provides scope to ensure an extensive range of visits and visitors in order to bring learning to life.

Every child has the right to access a broad and balanced curriculum. We take an inclusive approach to differentiating our learning by ensuring that we promote quality first teaching. Through effective CPD and under the guidance of our AHT for Inclusion and SENDCo, we ensure every teacher can meet children’s special educational needs. To support this provision, we ensure we have a well-trained group of teaching assistants who work closely with the class teacher to provide support, scaffolds and resources. This ensures that individual pupils have the support they need to be successful in their learning.

Where we feel that children would benefit from additional support, we have specialist teachers and teaching assistants who are trained to provide interventions. Any interventions are rotated to ensure that each child still has access to the full curriculum. We ensure that our Pupil Premium funds are effectively targeted to ensure that our most vulnerable learners have an equitable access to the wider curriculum offer and rich experiences equivalent to their non-disadvantaged peers. This ensures that they have equal opportunities within our school.
