Celebrating diversity and inclusivity

Celebrating diversity and inclusivity within our School Community

South Farnborough Junior School is larger than average junior school. It is considered least deprived for both location and deprivation. Our children are predominantly white British. However, at South Farnborough we have 17 ethnic groups (23.7%). Additionally, we are in the top quintile for children with EHC plans - this is due to our resourced provision.

As such, we feel it is our duty to ensure that these children, who may not be aware of the diversity of other societies have equal exposure to learn about diversity and know how to celebrate differences, We do this through our inclusive approach and by specifically teaching about diversity in all forms throughout our curriculum. This is overseen by our Diversity Leader and it is enhanced through our PDL curriculum and our collective worship. We use our school values to help the children understand this ins a child-friendly way. As such, we hope that they become citizens who make a positive contribution to society: embracing our values today, to be a successful part of the world tomorrow.
