As we approach half term, we are re-visiting our end of day procedures so that we can all stay safe whilst at the same time maximise the children’s time in school.
At present, we have year 3 children leaving at 3.10pm and the rest of the school finishing at 3.25pm. After half term we will be changing this so that the year 3 children get their full day in school alongside the rest of the pupils.
After half term:
All year 3 children – will be taken by their class teachers to our exit on the Upper School playground leading out onto King George V Park. Please park in our allocated car park in the park and follow the path through King George V park over to the external school gate. This is our largest exit and therefore our largest year group, the year 3s, will be leaving via this exit so parents can spread out. This will be the only year 3 pick-up point so no parents/carers will now need to enter our site. All children will need to be collected by an adult; no year 3 child will be allowed to walk home unaccompanied.
All year 4 children – will be taken by their class teacher to be dismissed via the front gate onto Cunnington Road at 3.25pm. All children will need to be collected by an adult; no year 4 child will be allowed to walk home unaccompanied. Please do not drive down to the school as this causes congestion.
All year 5 children – will be taken by their class teacher to the Lower school playground to leave via our gate up to the Grove at 3.25pm. (This is staying the same).
All year 6 children – will be held back until 3.30pm and then will be dismissed to leave through any exit they/you choose. Please make sure your child is aware of which gate they should leave by.
Middle School children – Those not on school transport will need to be collected from the exit on the Upper School playground leading out onto King George V Park. Please park in our allocated car park in the park and follow the path through King George V park over to the external school gate.
The class teachers will be walking the children to their new pick up points and will wait with them until they get picked up. If you feel you are going to be late, please phone the school office. Members of SLT and myself will also be on the gates to oversee proceedings.
I hope that you understand our need to change our pick up times and locations so that all children have the same amount of teaching time and all are safe leaving school. We are extremely fortunate in having 3 exits/entrances to our site so we don’t really have to disrupt the children too much. Therefore, years 3 4 and 5 can all leave at the same time at our normal end of day time. We have kept the year 6 children till last as they are more mature and they are more likely to walk home, thus there will be less adults around the site picking children up.
We would also like to remind you that children can come into school in the morning anytime from 8.30am to 8.55am. The gates will be closed and locked from 8.55am, therefore, your child should be in their class by this time. If they are late, they should proceed to the main front gate.
As always, in these times, please can you ensure you are socially distancing from other adults when waiting for your child. Everyone has been so fantastic at pick up, especially up the Grove which I know can be a bit of a bottleneck, thank you so much for all you are doing to help us keep the children safe.
