Girls' Football Team lose unbeaten record

Although the girls' football team held out until half time, the large pitch & goal sizes at St. Joseph's RC School became too much in the second half. Great defending by the whole team & excellent saves from Georgina, had thwarted the team who sit top of the league but they managed to score 4 goals after the half time break.

The girls will now play Potley Hill just after half term, in their last league match.

Great start for Year 6 Football Team in the Cup!

Playing away at Heatherside Junior School in Fleet proved no problem for the boys' football team who took an early lead & had scored three more by half time. After making some changes, the home team pulled two goals back in the second half but South Farnborough also added two more to achieve an excellent first win in the cup 6 - 2.

The boys will now play the winners of the Wellington v Church Crookham game which will be played after half term.

Narrow defeats for Girls' Football Teams

Years 5 & 6 girls have recently played two football matches, one against Manor Juniors at Samuel Cody School's 3G pitch & the other, a Standing Cup match at home to Hook Junior School. Unfortunately, both games were narrow defeats, with the friendly Manor game a 1 - 0 loss, with Manor scoring in the last 2 minutes, & the Cup match a 1 -2 loss after an exciting, close-fought game.

Both games displayed excellent sportsmanship & I understand new friendships have been made with girls from the other schools!

The Year 6 team will now return to league matches with a game against St. Joseph's next week.

Year 6 Futsal Tournament

Having practised their Futsal skills on the playground, the Year 6 team were able to put them to effective use in the annual Futsal (football) tournament at Samuel Cody. The game requires a heavier than normal football as it aims to improve the skill level of players by keeping the play mainly on the ground.

The team started really well, winning 4 - 0. However, they came up against some strong teams & although only losing narrowly, managed to win two games altogether, finishing 4th overall.

It was great to see one of our players, Dan, recognised for his honesty & fair play throughout the whole tournament, & he received a certificate from the organisers.

Well done!

Year 6 Runners Up in Futsal Finals - 9th January 2017

Having reached the finals of the district futsal tournament (indoor football), the Year 6 boys' team played two matches to decide on final positions. They faced strong opposition from Elvetham Heath & despite some excellent defending & goalkeeping, couldn't prevent a defeat in their first game.

However, they came back strongly in their second game against Tower Hill, eventually winning two - nil & securing second place in NE Hants with Elvetham Heath as deserved winners.
